Have you trained to work independently as an online counsellor/therapist or supervisor?
There’s still time to apply for one of our two well-regarded Diplomas in Online Counselling (DOC) and Online Therapeutic Supervision (DOTS). Both courses commence in April 2015. If you want to secure a place at this year’s prices, now is the time to apply.
Why train? Anyone can set up as an online counsellor/supervisor?
Our Diploma courses offer highly regarded post-qualification training where you get the most up to date thinking on issues like online security and confidentiality. You research and discuss ethical issues which online counsellors face regularly. You begin to work online with real clients/supervisees whilst having support and supervision from OLT tutors and supervisors. OLT work within the guidelines for online counsellors/supervisors recommended by BACP.
You wouldn’t employ someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing to mend your washing machine? Why would a client employ an online counsellor who’s done no specialised training?
Working online as a counsellor can be very solitary. You may be working across countries and cultures and face ethical dilemmas on a daily basis. Where do you turn for information, support and help? Our courses encourage you to keep in regular, supportive contact with your peers as well as the OLT tutors and supervisors. As this is post-qualification training, the whole course group has an opportunity to pool its collective experience and knowledge. This can continue long after the course has ended.
