OLT Workshop: Therapeutic Writing*
Have you ever suggested, or thought about suggesting, a writing task to a client?
Would you like to learn more?
This online workshop is led by Gill Jones, MA, MBACP Sen. Accred, Director, OLT.
The workshop will be held on 3 consecutive Monday evenings from your own computers, using your Word program and Skype:
June 15, 22 and 29th 2015 1800 – 2000 (UK time)
The aim of this workshop is to help participants explore and/or extend their experience of therapeutic writing.
A piece of creative writing which is suggested for its therapeutic value can be a powerful tool. It can become a written record of a formative experience which can be re-read again and again. It can touch emotions that perhaps can’t be expressed in any other way and can help organise intrusive and disjointed thoughts.
This experiential workshop gives you a chance to experience the power of therapeutic writing for yourself. Writing tasks are done during the three evenings of the workshop, along with sharing and witnessing of other members’ writing and discussion/exploration of how various writing tasks might be introduced to the work with clients.
At the end of the workshop, you will have completed pieces of personal writing on three themes (Who Am I? Where have I come from? Where do I want to go?). You will have had all (or parts) of them witnessed by other members of the group and witnessed their personal writing in turn. The group will have discussed different writing tasks and how they may be used therapeutically with clients.
